Memories of Atlanta
Amateur Astronomers

I became interested in astronomy when I was nine years old. I joined the Atlanta Astronomy Club when I was 12. Not many kids my age were interested in such a cerebral subject, so I had few friends drawn from my peer group. Instead, I found my friends at the AAC. Their ages ranged from 25 to 85. They all treated me as though I were an adult. That was fine with me!

I realized that the day would come when most of my friends were gone yet I would still be relatively young. What I did not realize was that as I myself approached old age I would spend a lot of time writing their obituaries.

The obituaries and articles I have placed here are about people who are important -- not only to myself, but to astronomy and the community.

These pages are not morbid. They are fascinating!
